Another Day

Here it is Spring and today was a beauty, you did not get to smell the freshly cut grass, do you know the mushrooms are being found in your woods? The sun shown so warm and gentle today, it did not touch your face. For you are standing the the presence of another son, a much more powerful one. One that you can adore and serve, I just miss you so very much. I needed you to help fix Olivia’s bike seat yesterday, Mom helped but you would have done it so much more quickly. I need you to listen to the sound our green car is making, it’s a kind of whining sound, you would have known right away if it’s something to fix or just nothing. I miss you everyday, wondering why you were taken from us so quickly. No time to have another cup of coffee, no time to ask just one more question.  Your one fingered wave is no longer. I know you are watching over us, I wish you were here though, I want to see your smile hear your laugh. I can’t give you lemonade after you bag our lawn this year. Terry planted 168 hills of potatoes before Good Friday, you would have been suprised.IMG_1300

Your bluebirds are back, Terry cleaned the houses out for you. No mice this year!  Freeman is getting married this Wed. you would like his Susan.  Matthew looked @ your tools in your shed  on Monday and knew you were the last to touch each one. Where to start? We can’t begin where you left off, we can’t put things together like you could, we can’t fix what’s broken, for it is our hearts this time and even you can’t fix them.  When will this ache stop? when will we stop looking for you to walk in the door, when will not need you anymore? Well, questions like that are hard to find answers too, you were the person I would ask. So, today is a day to remember you, right now is the time to tell you I love you and miss you. You are in my heart and that will Never change. I just still can’t believe you are not here.

Good Spring

You know Spring being here, Finally, we feel the sense of relief and I have to say Spring to me is more than a season change, more than green grass, more than soft rain plopping on my glasses, it’s a second chance for we who feel like our second chances are all used up.  It’s kind of like good music, when you can’t remember the name of that group who you were sure you’d never forget such important things, when I was a teen I lived from event to event, you know the movie Friday night, or the concert we waited for weeks to go to.  Like the ramble of a English major want to b’s I digress. The second chances I speak of are rare glimpses into my true self, knowing life has more to offer and just waiting for the right moment to reach out a grab it with all I have. I think it all boils down to faith, faith in our Lord and Savior, faith in our eternal tomorrows, to serve him and each other. Unconditionally, after all he serves us day after day without as much as one hesitation. Knowing we don’t deserve anything from him, yet he stands on the promises he made so many years ago. So the least we can do as obey (as best we can) his word and give of ourselves without looking for what’s in it for us.  It’s personal, those promises Christ made so long ago, they are for us right now, today.  I thank God for such opportunities to speak my mind, share my faith and be myself.

Don’t Mention It-

I know, I know I haven’t posted anything since forever-and yes, I also know it’s NOVEMBER—one of the months I’m in major denial about…no, it’s not the fact that it’s the month I’m turning 46 (YES FOURTY-SIX) years old, oh, no it’s not the fact that my BABY just turned 7 (YOU HERD ME I SAID MY BABY IS NOW 7) years old, all good guesses. You may think November is not a prime lovable month because we all go nearly broke and bald pulling out our hair looking and purchasing that perfect gift for our loved ones for the cherished impending holiday we Christians like to call Christmas and the secular world considers a wonder of one ups man ship, you know buy it bigger, make it better frame of mind, it’s no wonder I like tequila (ok, I’m an admitted light weight wt. in the drinking dept. you did read the beginning of this message where I said I AM Nearly 46, need I explain), so every run on sentence/paragraph deserves some humor, and I’m not one to disappoint.  Well, the problem I have with November is not the bounty of harvest (that’s obvious, have you seen my hips?), it’s not the wonderful sound of the door slamming as the children run out catching the bus, it’s not the beautiful wild turkeys that graced our back yard yesterday with the 3 deer who appear to have us named as they seemingly whisper secrets as we walk to the car. November to me is like that feeling I get when I don’t want to call it a day, this day is going just fine all by itself, no help needed by the clock on the wall, I am reluctant to check the timing of the seasons, knowing all the time it’s impending, it’s like the person you go on vacation with that just has to remind you with a big smile on their face that “Only 1 day left of vacation", back to the grindstone tomorrow!” (You know that person should be clubbed in the head!), it’s like the DJ that refuses to play your request, it’s just simply not going to work out for me…weather I like it or not winter is coming…….and November is its gate keeper, so yes, I hold a grudge and plan on for another 46 years! and that’s all I have to say about November-

SENIOR SEASON

Kohls’ Photography…Where The Action Is!    This is the new tag line for my business.  The senior and sports sessions have been so fun! Just ask Brandon Torkelson, Sam Koehn & Mike Thibadeau.  This is my favorite time of year!  Now the rain just has to take a powder so we can have our outside sessions!  Joelle Davis has chosen to go to Decorah for some beautiful outdoor shots! I can’t wait to finish editing the images from today!
